Nipple-Areola Care after Tattoo
- Remove the dressing (the next morning) and apply ointment generously to pigmented area 2-3 times a day for 7 days. It is important to keep the area well lubricated.
- Allow the area to heal openly without cover. (If needed, apply dry gauze over ointment to prevent staining of clothing.)
- Do not attempt to scratch or pick away any crust/scab along pigmented area. A scab that comes off early will take the color with it.
- Keep site completely dry for at least 2 days - minimize exposure to all forms of water including swimming, sauna, etc. Bathe in tub - wipe around area. You can shower after 48 hours.
- You may resume normal activities. However, avoid activities that may cause rubbing or friction to the treated area.
- Call our office (713-441-6102) if you have:
- Redness or warmth around surgical site
- A temperature above 101 degrees F
- Increased drainage that contains pus
- Increased pain at the surgical site
- Bad odor from the site
- Apply petroleum base antibiotic ointment, such as Bacitracin.
- Dress site with gauze and tape.
Things to remember:
- Some blood spotting is normal for the first day after procedure.
- Some bruising may occur at surgical site.
- Avoid all sun exposure at pigmented area.
- Color may become lighter or faded completely with time - you will be scheduled for touch-up micro-pigmentation as needed.
- No medications containing aspirin/anti-inflammatory ingredients for 7-10 days after procedure.
