Breast Restoration in Houston

Welcome to the Breast Restoration Center. We understand that the diagnosis of breast cancer can be overwhelming and devastating. Many women feel especially anxious and uncertain about choosing a breast restoration option after mastectomy. Our goal is to provide advanced breast restoration procedures in a caring, supportive environment, which allows each woman to complete successful rehabilitation from breast cancer and other breast related problems.

We help you understand the many breast reconstruction options in Houston and we are dedicated to treating our patients as individuals. While we offer all types of breast reconstruction options, we specialize in advanced microsurgical procedures, including the DIEP, SIEA, SGAP and TAP flaps. We have performed over 800 procedures and have pioneered innovative techniques to optimize the cosmetic result. Like an orchid that boldly unfurls with color and beauty, women who have had a mastectomy now have the option to regain natural breast shape and fullness.

DIEP/SIEA

Both the DIEP and SIEA flaps utilize excess abdominal skin and fat from the lower part of the abdomen. The difference between the two is the choice of blood vessels that nourish the flap tissue.

SGAP

The SGAP flap, or the Superior Gluteal Artery Perforator flap (buttock flap), is ideal for those who do not have an adequate amount of excess tummy tissue. The breast may be reconstructed with the skin, fat, and the tiny blood vessels taken from the buttock area to achieve a B or C cup breast size.

TAP

The thoracodorsal artery perforator flap (TAP flap) is a small flap that utilizes the tissue from the area on the side of the breast and the back. This flap is an option for small defects, such as in breast conservation or lumpectomy patients.

Latissimus

The latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap is an option that may be used for reconstruction, with or without an implant. This type of flap is not a microsurgical flap; in other words, the tissue is kept attached and rotated from the back area to the breast.

Implant

The simplest option for reconstruction is to have implants that prevent them from having a more complex sugery as well as patients who understand the limitation of this type of reconstruction but want to have a breast mound.

Don't wait 6 years:

I waited 6 years after my mastectomy to follow through with my plans for reconstruction. I was not interested in the type flap offered by the surgeon that did the markings prior to my mastectomy.
