Dr.
Aldona J. Spiegel is
the Director of the Center for Breast Restoration at the
Methodist Hospital in Houston, Texas and an Associate
Professor at Cornell University.
Philosophy
Dr. Spiegel is committed to providing
superior, patient-focused care and preparing the next generation
of surgeons to meet the highest standards of excellence. This
vision combines a dedication to advanced research, exceptional
education, and the development of new, less invasive treatments
and procedures.
Education
Dr. Spiegel earned her undergraduate
and medical degrees from the University of Ottawa, Canada.
She completed her general surgery training at Johns Hopkins
Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She completed a microsurgery
fellowship as well as plastic surgery training at Baylor
College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
Specialty
Dr. Spiegel's clinical expertise is in
breast reconstruction and microsurgery, particularly in the
area of surgical restoration with muscle sparing perforator
flaps. In addition, she is interested in all aspects of aesthetic
surgery and laser therapy and is committed to women’s
health issues in plastic surgery.
Memberships
Dr. Spiegel is a member of many organizations
including the American Society of Reconstructive Microsurgery,
World Society for Microsurgery, American Society of Maxillofacial
Surgeons, the Harris County Medical Society, Plastic Surgery
Research Council, and the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.
Research
Dr. Spiegel’s research interests
are in flap perfusion and clinical trials in breast reconstruction
outcomes.
Publications
Dr. Spiegel has contributed numerous
articles to medical and scholarly publications, and made presentations
to professional audiences throughout the United States. Her
topics have included plastic surgery, nerve injuries, and
mastectomy and breast reconstruction. |
